LOHENGRIN, Richard Wagner
A winter landscape. Three worlds clashing, in the form of cubes suspended in the air. And, in the center, the hero from whom does not know where, without name and with only destiny: to save the poor, victims of injustice. Like Elsa, destined to be the wife of the knight from Monsalvat. The revelation of his identity will bring down Brabante's men, despite the emergence of a new order.
With this new production, Katharina Wagner (great granddaughter of the composer and director of the Bayreuth Festival) debuts in Barcelona with one of Richard Wagner's most iconic - and most romantic - works. The cast includes Klaus Florian Vogt, one of the world's most acclaimed tenors as a specialist in Wagnerian repertoire, and Evelyn Herlitzius, who after the success of Elektra returns as Ortrud. After the success of Der Ring of the Nielungen and Tristan and Iseult, Josep Pons returns to face Richard Wagner's opera.
Opera in three acts. Libretto by Richard Wagner. World premiere in Weimar 1850.
